In this guide I am going to explain what are the steps you need to follow to update the eMule servers. I have already explained what Emule is and what it is for, so you can solve all your doubts. Now what I want to show you are the steps to have the latest server list so that you can download faster and more securely. Don't miss it!

Updating eMule servers step by step
eMule's servers are a key piece in the entire download process. It is true that, as such, the platform does not have a central server from which users will be able to find the files. Rather, it is a P2P (peer-to-peer) network that is fully decentralized. However, there needs to be a series of servers that index, classify and locate the content.
Thanks to the servers, eMule users will not be able to download the files, but they will be able to find them. In addition, the client, that is, the program itself, will know from which computers to download them. Therefore, having an updated list increases the chances of being able to download files. It also allows you to use the P2P network more securely, avoiding corrupted or malicious files.
With this in mind, it is evident that it is necessary to keep the server list up to date. How to do it?
Update servers automatically
The first way to update eMule's servers is to ask the program to do so every time it starts. This is a fairly simple procedure that you can complete in a few clicks. This way, you always have the most reliable servers and maximize the chances of being able to download a file..
To update eMule's servers automatically, you need to have a list. If you do a search on the Internet, it is easy to find up-to-date lists, all of them hosted on a public server. This way, in order to add a list to eMule, you'll need to locate a valid URL.
For my part, I have consulted the official forum of the eMule project, where a URL hosted on Gitlab that works perfectly is indicated. There I have come across the following address, which works very well:
http://emuling.gitlab.io/server.met
Once you've copied it to your clipboard, it's time to let eMule know that you'd like it to see this list every time it's opened. The first step is to click on Preferences. Then, click on the Server section and check the Auto-update server list option at startup.
Next, click on the Edit button. You'll see Notepad open and a DAT file load into it. It's completely empty, so you're not going to have to edit anything. All you need to do is paste the URL you copied earlier.
Once you've done that, save your changes so that eMule knows which source to update the servers from.
When you return to the preferences window, in the same Server section, check the following options:
- Autoconnect only to fixed servers
- Use Priority System
- Assign high priority to hand-added servers
Then, save your changes by clicking Apply and exit eMule completely. Make sure to close the program and prevent it from running in the background. When you restart it, you will see that the list of servers is different and that it is now updated. Connect to the server of your choice or start using eMule to let the program connect on its own.
What you need to know
eMule's servers are maintained by the community. Personally, I don't know of any entity that is maintaining these servers professionally. Therefore, it is normal if they stop working from one day to the next or the community flags them as unreliable.
Manually update servers
Another possibility is to ask eMule to manually update the server list. In that case, you must go to the Servers section and enter the URL of the MET listing in the text box that you see indicated in the image below. It's where it says Update server.met from URL.
Once you've pasted the URL, tap Update to have eMule load the server list. While this is a valid method, which you may find useful in some cases, you should generally ask eMule to apply the update every time the program is opened.
Add or remove servers
Finally, you should know that it is possible to edit the list of servers manually. The first way to do this is to remove any servers from the list that you no longer want to use. Simply right-click on either of them and select one of these two options:
- Delete Selected Server
- Delete all servers
If you opt for the second option, you will have to add a new server later, since eMule will run out of any. It is also feasible to use this option to delete all outdated servers and add a new MET list.
To add a server, all you need is to know its IP address, connection port, and server name. Once you have this information, enter it in the sidebar and click on the Add to list button.
The list of servers currently working, according to the project's official forum, is as follows:
- eMule Sunrise – 176.123.5.89 – 4725
- eMule Security – 45.82.80.155 – 5687
- TS Server Group – 145.239.2.134 – 4661
- !! Sharing-Devils No.1!! – 91.208.162.87 – 4232
